MINNEAPOLIS, Nov 18, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- SUPERVALU INC. (NYSE: SVU) today announced that David Boehnen, executive vice president, is transitioning to a new role at SUPERVALU effective December 15, 2010. Boehnen will no longer be a SUPERVALU officer but will continue to consult for SUPERVALU as a Senior Counselor to Craig Herkert, SUPERVALU's chief executive officer and president, for one year.
"Dave has made many contributions to SUPERVALU in leading the legal function as well as real estate and corporate development that have shaped who SUPERVALU is today," said Herkert. "I have personally appreciated his advice and counsel during my first 18 months with SUPERVALU and I look forward to continuing to work with Dave in his new capacity and sincerely thank him for his years of service."
During his 20-year tenure with SUPERVALU, Boehnen has been responsible for legal, business development, real estate and store development, as well as government affairs. He has served as an important advisor to the CEO and the board of directors on a number of significant issues and opportunities that have influenced the company's growth.

I will reflect on it fondly as I move into the next phase of my career," said Boehnen. Boehnen is also very active in the Twin Cities arts community, serving on the boards of the Guthrie Theater and the Minnesota Orchestra, and previously on the board of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
With Boehnen's new role, Todd Sheldon, group vice president, legal, will be promoted to senior vice president and general counsel, reporting to Andy Herring, executive vice president of real estate, market development and legal.
